When I finished my Psychology degree in May 2023, I was very unsure of the path I wanted to take going forward. When I was in school, I had always loved Art, but in my final years, I decided to study Psychology (despite hating science throughout the school!)
In the final year of my degree, I was also working 3 part-time jobs, and even though this was exhausting at times, it made me realise how much of people person I had become. I had my heart set on working in the health services, but after some rejection and uncertainty, I realised that I wanted a job that was creative and enjoyable, so I applied to Future Cloud with very little marketing experience! This was one of the best decisions I’ve made! Sometimes, you have to be brave and put yourself out there even if you’re lacking the self-belief. It’s also never too late to try a different path and gain new qualifications.
I have been at Future Cloud now for 3 months (where does the time go?) so I thought I would share my experience so far!
Within the past 3 months, I have learnt so many new skills, especially with editing software and social media. Before I started, I had never even created a TikTok – and now I am creating content for multiple social media channels on the daily! My favourite part of marketing so far has to be the design elements. I really want to help us create content that is engaging and informative for our clients and followers. I think this is a key factor in helping our business grow and establish an online presence.
Marketing has also helped to grow my confidence. I have a lot more belief in my skills and ideas now that I’m working as part of a team. I’m also lucky that the team I work with are always encouraging me to try new things.
Researching marketing techniques for my qualification has also made me realise how much psychology and marketing can go hand-in-hand, and I look forward to further incorporating these 2 passions of mine moving forward in my career. I can’t wait for all the exciting things to come in 2024…
